WELCOME!
My name is Laura Reed and I am thrilled to be the counselor at Highland Park Elementary School! This is
my 5th year here and I love working in an environment that is so warm, welcoming and caring. The parents, staff and students all embody these characteristics, which makes coming to work such a joy.
In addition to guidance lessons with Kinder –2nd grades, I conduct small groups with each grade level.
I also meet with students individually, based on self-referral, parent or teacher request.
In the spring, I will meet with 5th grade classes to work on Individual Academic Career Plans (IACP). This will guide them when filling out CHOICE sheets.
In addition, I am the designated 504 coordinator, the Building Test Coordinator, and work with Partners in Education to arrange mentors/tutors for our students. I am fortunate enough to work with our fabulous PTA in organizing Parent Education Night in the Fall.
When the need arises, I work very closely with parents and faculty with referrals to outside agencies in the community.
